Winter to Spring Transition Wear

Are you ready to compose some outfits for unpredictable transitional weather? To say I’m excited about a little sunshine and warmer weather would be an understatement. Come spring, comes a change of wardrobe too. Which is probably my favorite transition! To go from a winter to spring wardrobe, you don’t have to totally revamp your closet. Sure it’s nice to add some new pieces, but transitioning doesn’t have to be complicated. So set aside those winter clothing pieces and let’s welcome in some lightweight layers to embrace the new season.

Think layers. Layered looks can’t be more functional than in transitional time as it can suddenly get colder or warmer and having layers means that you can remove or add some of them when you need that. Try not just a sweater or a jumper but a shirt or a tee with a blazer, a long sleeve top with a jacket and a coat on top, a shirt and a waistcoat and so on. Today I’m sharing all my best tips on how to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring with ease.

First on the list is

Insulated Tights

At first glance, they look like any other pair of tights—with an opaque finish and some flesh tones. What makes them extra special, however, is that these leggings are lined with a super soft fleece that will actually keep you warm this winter. A shiver-free way to rock a chic dress or skirt? Um, yes please. In fact, unless you own a pair of fleece-lined pants, these tights might be warmer than your go-to jeans. Usually these tights can be worn underneath trousers or can be layered any other way if it’s too cold, but you can definitely wear them by themselves as a transition piece.

Layering Outfits

Winter forecasts can be near impossible to predict. One day it's freezing with snow on the ground, and the next, it's unseasonably warm and you can be burning up in a sweater. Instead of dressing for one extreme or another, layering clothes can help keep you prepared for anything and everything. You may also try layering with lightweight items. This is key for dealing with the cold mornings that feel more like winter, but ends up warm and sunny like spring and summer in the afternoon. You can peel away lighter layers with ease.

Layering also gives you the opportunity to play around with the pieces that are already in your wardrobe. Give yourself permission to experiment with different textures, fabrics, weights, patterns, and colors, and the outfit possibilities are endless.

Hats/Beanies

Winter accessories, especially winter hats, aren't just cute outfit additions like they are in the summer, they're pretty essential. Hats are a perfect transitional accessory! Not just winter hats but If you spot a fashion girl on her day off, chances are she's wearing a sporty baseball hat. They're an easy outfit addition that lends a considered feel to even the most thrown-together looks and this season, it's all about caps with a bit of preppy twist with minimalist embroidery and neutral color palettes.

Vests

Typically associated with menswear, this garment has become the chosen fundamental wardrobe staple of beloved Pinterest board muses. A great thing about the suiting vest is its versatility, especially as the weather changes. A vest can be absolutely perfect on its own in the summer, and it can also be layered with just about anything — over and under — when it's cold. In many ways, the suit vest serves as an alternative to a sleeveless top — so why not sub it in for a basic tank? Wear a vest as-is, with nothing underneath, to keep cool and chic.
