Eileen Fisher

Fisher is the founder and co-CEO of the eponymous clothing company she started in 1984 and has made sustainability a priority through her Renew and Waste No More initiatives which repurposes garments to make artisanal textiles. Since 2009, the company has resold, donated, or repurposed 1.5 million garments and customers have received $5 for each returned item as well as In 2016, Eileen Fisher became a certified B Corporation, committing to high sustainable and ethical business practices.

There is a wish shared by women who consider themselves serious that the clothes they wear look as if they were heedlessly flung on rather than anxiously selected. The clothes of Eileen Fisher seem to have been designed with the fulfillment of that wish in mind. Words like “simple” and “tasteful” and colors like black and gray come to mind along with images of women of a certain age and class—professors, editors, psychotherapists, lawyers, administrators—for whom the hiding of vanity is an inner necessity.

In 2020, The company launched VISION2020, a bold sustainability initiative that includes a pledge to use only organic cotton and organic linen by 2020. Supply chain transparency, water, carbon, responsible dyeing, fair wages and benefits, and conscious business practices are key components. In keeping with Eileen’s belief in collaboration, VISION2020 calls for partnering with other brands to shift the fashion industry.

Faithfull The Brand

Launched in 2012 with the aim of creating an affordable label which still delivered in terms of design, comfort and beauty, Bali-based Faithfull has steadily grown over the last seven years into a now booming brand, whose pretty floral patterns and easy-to-wear dresses are instantly recognisable thanks to its legions of dedicated fans on Instagram.

Choosing Bali as the base allowed the company to give opportunities and support to local artisans and to communities who eventually became very closely linked with the business.

Co-founders, Sarah-Jane Abrahams and Helle Them-Enger wanted to keep a personal connection with each and every one of our employees to ensure they are well taken-care of. By being based in Indonesia and working so closely with these local communities, they are able to support and encourage local artisans to create beautiful handmade products. Designed for relaxed, off-duty situations and for a real woman on her travels, the beautiful dresses, separates and swimwear are undeniably covetable. Flattering, stylish pieces that can be thrown into your suitcase and worn without ironing is an appealing concept – and one which has won consumers over.

As of 2021, Faithfull the Brand is extremely proud to be a certified B Corporation, based on their commitment to the community, their conscious business practices and their pledge to be a force for good. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance both profit and purpose.

As you browse the Christy Dawn website, you can choose your size and style, but you also see a section on how the dresses are produced. The brand takes time to explain its practices and its mission.
